In what ways does folklore, at least as conceived by Herder, promote patriarchal scripts? Is the 'Volk' a patriarchal concept? If so, why and how? What other subtexts might there be to Herder's ideas? Finally, is Romanticism gendered and what might the implications be for our understanding of it if it is?
